Writing tips
Story is the cheapest way to make an ad watchable. This is David Mamet’s simple rules for writing a compelling narrative. By “Problem of the Play” he means what the Protagonist(s), need to solve, get or overcome.
1) The Problem of the play must be concise
2) The Progress toward it must be direct and all incidents essential either in advancement or disruption of that progress.
3) Finally the conclusions must be definite (E.g. France is free, the couple reunited, the treasure returned, to it’s rightful owner)
The super objective may be concealed and hence inverted I.e. The Sixth Sense what seemed to be Bruce Willis helping a kid deal with his clairvoyance is in fact the kid helping bruce to come to terms with his own death.”
